I have some movies on VideoCDs and i want to put them all on 1 DVD. I tried using ISOBuster and VCDGear to convert the .dat files on the vcds to .mpg files. That went fine, but here is where i have the problem. I can play the movies on Media Player and the movies show up fine. When I try to add the movies to TMPGEnc DVD Author I get a message saying that they are all missing the stream header. I also tried adding the movies to DVD-Lab and all that shows up is a green picture in the preview window and in the thumbnails for the movie. Does anyone know how to fix/replace the headers for the movies without having to run them thru TMPGEnc and re-encode them?

In TMPGenc, click on file/mpeg tools/simple demultiplex. Load your .dat file and tell it to start. You will get a video stream (m1v) and an audio stream (mp2). You will have to re-encode the audio to 48kHz. You can do this in TMPGenc or just about any other audio encoder, but you may have to decompress to .wav first. You can do this in TMPGenc (load the audio as a video source then hit file/output to file/ and select wave.)
Mpeg audio (what your VCD had) isn't supported on all NTSC dvd players so you may have to use AC3 instead. For this you will need the latest version of BeSweet or some other commercial AC3 encoder.
Once you've got your re-encoded audio, you will need to remultiplex as a DVD. That's why you had problems before. It was multiplexed as a VCD (different packetsize etc..) So go back to file/mpeg tools and now choose simple multiplex. Load your video (m1v) and your new audio stream and choose DVD as your output format. Let it multiplex and your authoring programs should accept it. -
I need to do the same thing a few weeks back... I believe it was Lord Smurf that mentioned ISOBuster program.
Worked great for me ... it extracted the MPEG files from the VCD.. I put them in DVD MF3 and then burnt a DVD... works on my home DVD Player so I was happy.
Give it try
