In Canada thats true for the most part, sometimes you can buy singles, or they're given away in promotional things. but usuually you can only buy the album.
-
There typically is one small (very small) section for singles. Usually there are only like 10-15 singles though.
-
so that's why you're all pissed at the RIAA!! i get it now!
-
Even then, the singles are $4-6. 2 songs aren't worth that much.

says brits spend £1.09 billion on albums and £97 million on singles. that's still quite a bit of cash. just struck me as odd because a single comes out, and people but it or don't. then the album comes out and you buy it or not based on the single. if you can't buy singles how do you know you'll like an album? -

i'm still in shock over your lame system. that means nine year old girls who hear a new britney song bug their mum for $20 for an album rather than $5 for a single.
so do you have a singles chart? over here the top 40 gets broadcast on Radio 1 every sunday. people crowd round the radio to see who's nnumber one that week. and we have top of the pops, too - live performances and videos for people in the top 40 on bbc2.
none of that? -

There's the charts according to Billboard
http://www.billboard.com/bb/index.jsp
and local radio stations have their own charts
We also have Music Choice for cable and satellite television that play all the latest chart hits as well as new releases.
There's also Internet Radio and the legal/pay mp3 sites
I can remember when singles/vinyl 45s used to cost 69 cents each...then went to a dollar...then up to $2
Also remember a time when concert tickets were $10 and a buck to pay see a movie in the Theater -
We have the paper tell us what the top 10 best selling singles are as well as the top 10 best selling albums. As far as your state of shock, flan, that is why the reallystupidiaa is up in arms over p2p.
