You need to convert it to a DVD mpeg first. Have a look at TMPGEnc for that, though be warned that it doesn't always work right away with WMV files. You might want to save as avi in Moviemaker next time. Once you have your mpeg created you need to author it. TMPGEnc DVD Author is pretty good but you can use any author you normally use.

File>Save Movie>Setting=Other, Profile = DV AVI NTSC. Be prepared for fairly large file sizes.

You may not have a DV codec. Check the avi with G-spot and find out if you have one installed. If you don't, install the Mainconcept DV Codec. It's trialware but it should be free for decoding purposes. Once it's installed, try again in TMPGEnc.

  8. Sorry this is not an answer to the original question, but another question along the same lines. I have captured DV from my Sony camcorder to the computer, using Nero 6.0. However, I would like to try Windows Movie Maker. If I understand these posts correctly, I need to save the file as an AVI file, then use another program to convert this file to DVD format?

I would like to try WMF, then use the Nero 6.0 program to convert (if it will do this) the AVI file to a DVD compatible file. Anyone know if Nero can accomplish this?

    Thanks,

    John
