  1. I can't get audio to sync on second half of Divx/AVI files after split. I have tried using AVI MPEG Splitter.VDub,nero, seperate WAV audio file, and batch encoding split file in TMPGEnc.
I am using xvcd template in TMPGEnc.
First half is great, but second is allways out of sync.
Unless the little bit of info I have given screams out the problem I will ask for help in fixing the sync in TMPGEnc.
I see that there is an adjustment I can make so thats what I will work with.
How can I do this in real time ? I can see the audio track, but have to adjust sync/encode/abort/test to hear it.
Is there a way to mark the track or preview adjust at the same time?
I am very happy with the results I get on the first half. I could burn to DVD but that is my last resort. From the many posts I see this is a common problem with TMPGEnc.
I am also willing to switch to another encoder.

Why split? There's a nifty feature in TMPGEnc - Source Range - where you can set what part of the source to work with.
Another solution is to load the AVI in VirtualDub, set the start and end frames using the slider, and frame serve to TMPGEnc. Works in a similar fashion to the source range feature of TMPGEnc.

I would try decompressing the avi audio to PCM wav. Open the movie with Virtualdub, go to the audio menu and select "full processing mode", then go to file and select "save wav". Use the wav file as the audio source in TMPGEnc and try the source range function again.

Yup, sounds like VBR audio in the AVI source - Correct? It always screw things up for good ole TMPGEnc.

  6. I did change the audio to wav, then ran batch encode with split. Still way out 5sec or more. At the moment I am trying AVI2VCD. It takes forever, but it did give me a much more decompressed audio file. I assume you had these problems too,and wav was the fix ? I see that on most posts. The time spent waiting sucks. What about manual fix? Will TMPGEnc let me do that before encoding ? Most of the posts are dead ends with you guys giving help, and no follow up from the person with the problem.

That should tell you that fixing bad sync is very difficult to achieve. Personally, I don't waste my time converting avi's to mpeg unlesss I encoded them myself. There are way too many shit files floating around to even bother.
