It looks like I am actually going to have to pay for some CD-R discs and I was wondering if anyone here has an opinion on Ridata? Officemax has 100s at $20. I seem to recall people having problems with Ridata CDs even though the DVDs were pretty good and I don't want to waste the money.
Thanks

Bought some ritek cdr which is ridata and cant burn svcd properly with my burner.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
im sure there the 2 tone green ones arent they, with the printing slightly raised to form an arrow on it.
the answer is yes they are very good, the best ive bought for a long time.
they worked well on a burner that was on its way out,and 4 other brands of cd media failed to read, but these were perfect every time, even right up to 52 speed.
and they play perfectly on my cd,and dvd players,no skips or anything.
as for your svcd burning problem, try burning at 16-24 speed, any higher and the svcd will probably be unplayable.
well,in all my years of experience, thats what it boiled down to.
and the fact of outdated bios on writers,as well, not recognising the media codes. -
general consensus is not really... their DVD-R media is great (usually) but their CDR... nope. try rima.com for Taiyo Yuden CDR's if you need great unbranded discs or search for the Fuji's Made in Japan.. not many around anymore.

Nope, not at all.

If you want to "test" ridata, check them out at Radio Shack. Free after rebate.

Landfill ?
Hell, I must have been lucky - the last batch I had when burnt had the lowest C2 error rate of any CD-R's I've seen in a long time.
Maybe this is an example of your hardware making a difference. I'm still using a fairly old Yamaha CRW-3200 for my CD writing and was very pleased with the Ridata CD-R's. Turning off the Yamaha's media check to burn the discs at full speed (otherwise it throttled back to 16x) produced no problems, although when I was testing them I did notice the error rate went up a bit when recording at relatively slow speeds. -
The absolute best CD-R media WITHOUT question is Taiyo Yuden and these days it is rather cheap.
Last I looked a 100-pack with plain silver tops was $28.00 per 100
The 100-pack inject printable CD-R discs were $38.00
If I recall correctly this was at RIMA.COM
At those prices why consider anything but the best?
