  1. Hi ,

I had to vid files that i merged together into one using the mpeg tools section of TMPGEng , the 1st section re-encoded ok but when it came to the 2nd section the vid and audio are way out of sync with audio running about 10-15 secs ahead of vid, it was it was 2 avi or wmv files , i wanted them joined to one mpeg-1 file and the setting was radiobuttoned to system video and audio in the tmpgeng mpeg tools window.

    any help , please,
    thansk, Dosie.

What you should do instead is encode each avi separately with tmpgenc and then join them with tmpgenc mpeg tools, its quite common for files such as avi to go out of sync where its joined.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

    Hi dosie,

I'll try to be more help than the "chocolate fireguard" response you first received... (not you johns0).

I'm not clear on if you're joining your MPEG1s after you've encoded, or whether you've joined AVIs then encoded. I'll go for the former as johns0 has covered the latter.

TMPGEnc is known to be fussy about the mpegs it works with - if they're not mpegs that have come from TMPGEnc, then it has been known to cause the problems you're getting.

There are other tools that may yield better results - have a scout around the "Tools" section. Here's a few that I've heard of / seen:

Womble MPEG-VCR (well worth checking out)
VirtualdubMOD (supports MPEGs, and VirtualDub does join - so who knows?)
    FileMerger
    AVI/MPEG/RM/WMV Joiner
    Easy Video Joiner
TMPGEnc MPEG Editor (says cut only, may do join too)
    M1-M2 Edit ($1500 !!!)

    Hope that helps. Good luck...
