Was recently in Blockbuster and all the associates had these neon green shirts on and were asking all customers if they wanted the unlimited movie rental plan. I immediately knew what it was but they haven't had it for a couple of years. They have only had the game pass. So I asked how much and they said $24.99, and I said sign me up. You can rent two movies at a time and return them as frequently as you want. Even if you only take 2 movies per day, that's still a hell of a deal. If you take more then do the math. Mere change per rental. Oh, and I asked and "NEW RELEASES" are also included in this. So you can get any two movies you want, as often as you want.
With all the netflix issues many have had as well as there price increase on top of that, screw em' and do this plan with blockbuster. Works out much better too.

i'm in L.A so maybe it is regional or something. But i'd expect that maybe it will roll out in more Blkbsters in the weeks to come. Hopefully it will, as it's an insane deal.

on a similar note, Hollywood Video just started the game pass like blockbuster has in my area.

I hate that freaking shirt...I have to wear it for 4 days(although I was told we were supposed to wear em' memorial day weekend only so I dont know how you've seen it already). Damn they're ugly.
Anyway...back to the point. The movie pass you're talking about is exactly like the game pass but for movies. For 20 bucks a month you get 2 movies and for 25 a month, you get 3 movies. You can rent as many as you want in a month as long as the first two(or three) you rented are in before you rent again. Also...its the only way you get to keep the "Hot new releases" for more than a day. All the brand new movies will be due next day by midnight...for the rest, you get a choice for overnight rental(2 bucks) or a weekly rental(4 bucks). One cool thing I found out...if you keep a movie for more than 12 days(assuming you dont have the movie pass), it takes the "Extended viewing fees"(we're not supposed to call em late fees) off the account and automatically sells it to you instead of tacking on EVFs.
As for it not being in some areas...blockbuster is trying it out in their most successful markets and see if they can hold the change and if it's profitable, it'll move to every BB in the country.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: Also, if you have any crap you want to get rid off, BB is also doing a trading system like gamestop and EB. They'll take almost any movie and/or game off your hands for store credit(which is good for anything in the store). Its credited to your account or given to you as a value card(your choice). You can only use the credit in the store you sold you stuff at, but the value card(it's like a gift card) is good at any BB. -
devanshu, are u positive about the 2 movies is for 20 bucks and three for 25? The guy rang me up for $24.99 on my credit card and said I can get two movies at a time. I remembered the last time they ran it a couple of years ago it was the same deal for 20 bucks a month. I figured they just raised the price. I knew it would be beneficial to me anyway so I paid. But the guy had also rung up the movies I was already renting that day which happened to be two movies - LOTF-TROFK & Shade. I had to tell him that if I was purchasing the plan I wasn't paying for any movies seperately. He said oh, my bad.
I'll check the Blkbster site but if you can link anything showing 2 movies is $20 and 3 movies is $25, I can print it out and take it in. Thanks
EDIT - I saw it quick on the blockbuster site. It says that 2 movies at a time is $24.99 and certain stores may have a 3 out at a time plan but it doesn't say how much that will cost. http://www.blockbuster.com/bb/article/details/0,7413,ART-1556,00.html
Maybe your store is different? -
I suppose i'll have to wait 12 months before it appears this side of the water!
If ever -
DVDeeZ, maybe we got different prices. I'm positive about our prices though...I had to attend a meeting to learn about the new policies and other stuff last saturday so its still fresh in my mind.

Drove be the local BB and saw 2 for $20 in the window. I assume it is referring to this thread topic.

do you know how long this one is going to run? and if they do decide to stop it, does everyone that have it automatically get canceled, or can you still stay on that plan? -

From now on, everyday you walk in to a BB, they should have a stand or something right by the front door that shows the PRPs(previously rented product) and thats refreshed every week I believe because blockbuster decides what goes on the stand. Also, everyday there's an offer to buy one get one half off on previously played games.
