Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

  4. it is possible it all comes down to the bitrate at whidch its encoded, the higher the rate the bigger the file

remember that a normal cd is 80 mins thats either audio or video i.e. 1 hour 20 mins, the standard vcd bitrate is 1150 so if a film you got is 1 hour 20 or less it should fit if not then the bitrate needs to be lowered, but that will then mean quality loss the further down it goes

    I use
    THIS GUIDE with good success.

At about 90/95 mins the quality is only marginally less than standard VCD. Much more than that and you really start to notice a difference.
I did experiment and put LOTR two towers extended edition on one CD-R (about 3h30min) poor quality but it worked.

Poor ? I'd imagine that would look terrible. What settings did you use for this ?

It was around 333 , I just did it to see if it was possible. The edges of most things was anything other than sharp and on any reasonably fast movement it kind of shimmered its way across the screen.

I wouldn't recommend it , just to say it is possible.

It is possible to make great -looking 1 disk Xvcds from an average 90 min film.

    1. DVDdecrypter > rip and demux DVD.
    2. Load demuxed streams into Mainconcept Mpeg Encoder (best)
    3. Encode Mpeg1 vbr max ? - min ? (use built-in calc for this)
    4. Encode audio 96kbps joint stereo (worth slight loss for extra
    picture quality.)
    5. Burn non-standard compliant

This is playable in most cheap far-east hardware dvd players. It even looks verys good on my 17" monitor.

I think we must have different definitions of the term great -looking

I remember capturing Mad Max from TV and burning it as one xVCD. I think the bitrate was 750-850. Needless to say, I picked a hell of a movie to make this way since it is a car chase movie and action scenes don't look to good at 750! After that, I decided to buy a DVD burner.
