It has been known to take some time, especially with slower computers (no offense intended). You may also want to try to simply create a mpeg-2 file that is DVD-compliant. Then use ImgTool to burn it. No menu function available, but it is faster.

Yes, it's normal. When I started I was using a Pentium 3, 850 Hz. It took about 20-21 hours to for Studio to create the DVD (and that was on the rare occasions where it didn't have a problem after 10-15 hours and have to start over.

I went to an Athlon 2400+ (2 GHz) and it cut the 20 hours down to about 6 hours (but most of the time it still took 2-3 tries to get one done).

I finally gave up on Studio- got a capture card to capture directly to mpeg-2 and use TMPGEnc DVD Author to make the DVDs. Now instead of 20 hours or 6 hours it takes about 15 minutes.

  4. thanks for the answers.....

and what about ulead moviefactory 3 ?

is it any good compared to studio ?
because i still think the options to create a movie with menu's and all are great.

  5. My Studio 9 takes about 6 hours with a 1.8 GHz pentium. I use it to capture compliant video stream, then TMPG Dvd Author to compile into DVD format. It cuts off about 2 hours.
Either way is not inconvenient, as I start my processing before I go to bed. When I wake up, its finished. That way it doesn't tie up your computer.
If it works, don't fix it.
