I have a dvd, from which I want to edit (translate) the subtitles and make a dvd again. I have done it with some dvds until now, but this one is different - when I load it in any dvd decripting software it shows only video and audio tracks, but no subtitles. But if you play it on a sw or hardware player - you can see a subtitle (english for people, that cannot hear). So my wish is to be able to export this subtitles as text and timecode - as a subtitle text file. How can I do it and does someone have seen such dvds?

sounds like the dvd has closed captioning.
load the files into dvdshrink and check to see if it has any subtitle streams. if it does, you should be able to demux the subtitle stream with dvddecrypter. if it doesn't, you'll probably have to download a subtitle stream and author the dvd with the subtitle stream. -
I have tried this with some programs, with dvdshrink too. But there is no subtitle. The question is: Does someone know another way, that subtitles can be made in the dvd, becaue they here are not as subtitle stream. And about downloadin - it is not a film, that can be found on the net - it is a christian film and is not one of the "goon known" films.

As mentioned above, if it's not subtitles, then it must be closed captions. For example, in PowerDVD you turn them on/off through the player (not DVD!) menu while movie is playing. Right-click on the screen and look for the words Closed Captioning. On a standalone player, they are switched using TV remote.
If this is the case, check out this site for the tools to rip them off the VOB files. Specific tool you're interested in is called General Parser. -
thank you!!! I nave never seen closed captions. I am from europe and the NTSC standard with it's option for closed captions is something new for me. But the site wit the scc tools was great and I was able to export the closed captions to a srt file. Thanks again!!!
