Can your VCR be made (with a menu option perhaps) to output the NTSC VHS video as a true NTSC signal?
If so you can capture NTSC then if you need a PAL DVD you can do the NTSC to PAL conversion on the computer ... or just make a NTSC DVD.

Yes, PAL60 is a problem for the ADVC100, maybe try some one's
miniDV (NTSC) camcorder, with analog video pass through.
or a expensive vhs video-deck, most of the time proffesional equipment.
Conversion to PAL you can forget, try to get a multi system DVD standalone.
I know there are hardware tv system converters but are expensive,
and the cheaper models give poor quality i guess....Thanks,

i dont think any of my VCR's will do that, and i dont know anyone with a DV camcorder with a ntsc passthrough. thanks for the info guys, any more suggestions anyone

adding to that i went to the store today to buy a standalone converter but it only outputs in PAL60

I'm sure you can find a new VHS VCR that is not very expensive yet has the ability to play back NTSC as NTSC.
I suppose you can even get a cheap USA model VHS VCR along with a transformer for the A/C socket and off you go.

Here in PAL-Land there are no cheap VCR's which wil give u true NTSC signal! It's all PAL60.
I have the same problem here. I tried to play it through my sony D8 camera but it also does not accept a PAL60 signal. It will probably only work with a real NTSC signal.
The only way is to get a true multisystem VCR which will be very expensive and difficult to get or get a real NTSC VCR with transformer. Not really worth it for only a few tapes I think.
One option which works is to use a (cheap) TV-card with a booktree (878 or higher) chip with the BTWINCAP WDM drivers. I could capture in PAL60 with it. -
Well here is one example of something you might want to look into ...
http://www.world-import.com/v-e60.htm
This is a fairly inexpensive multi-system VHS VCR that can play back any NTSC or PAL video tape.
It sounds like it can do PAL-60 from NTSC videos but can also output NTSC as NTSC.
It's a nice multi-system 6-head Hi-Fi Stereo VHS VCR that features a pretty much world-wide TV tuner input and automatic switching between 110 - 240 volt 50/60 Hz so you can pretty much use this wherever you are in the world.
It is only $149.99 US Dollars.
This is a USA based website but they do ship internationally.
I'm sure there are websites or mail-order places in Europe that carry similiar equipment.
