    how do you burn 4x media at 8x?
    which programs allow you to do this?

    I don't think it has to do with Sofware as opposed to the burner's Firmware.
    No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

    sorry, didnt really ask a clear question.
    If you haev an 8x burner and 4x media, some people are able to burn the 4x media at 8x (of course burner/media dependant).
    How can you force an 8x burn on 4x media, even if it turns out unsuccessful?
