http://alparysoft.com/prod/compression/index.php
Alparysoft Lossless Video Codec 2.0 version is for encoding and
decoding of video:
- Without any mathematical losses (i.e. source and destination video are absolutely identical after encoding/decoding process), the compression ratio is 2 - 5 times.
- Without any visual losses, i.e. human eye won't be able to see any difference between source and destination video, the compression ratio is 5-15 times.

Most consumer video I believe, is best kept at DV , mpeg1 and mepg2 (with an occassional quicktime) . After that the average weekend video hack gets totally fucked up.
That codec may have been useful years ago, but now that harddrive are huge and digital camcorders are native DV - why bother.
All my work is done in DV now where years ago it was HUFFYUV or MJPEG.

well you asked -
[Too late on the scene. A few years ago - maybe.]
well..i don't agree with u at all. This codec is popular enough for the moment. But it's up to concrete requirements, tasks and different equipment. And sure it can't be the only example to compare with..
