It is pre-order with shipping expected on May 26th.

Also, they don't list the DVD+R DL write speed in the specs either, it's 2.4X right?

2.4x is correct - found on Sony website.

    Write Speed:
    DVD+R Double Layer: 2.4X*** max.
    DVD-R: 1X, 2X, 4X, 8X (ZCLV)** max.
    DVD-RW: 1X, 2X, 4X** max.
    DVD+R: 2.4X, 4X*, 8X (ZCLV)** max.
    DVD+RW: 2.4X, 4X* max.
    CD-R: 8X CLV, 16X, 24X P-CAV, 32X, 40X** max.
    CD-RW: 4XCLV, 10X, 16X, 24X ZCLV** max.

    • Read Speed
DVD-ROM (single layer): 12X CAV max.
DVD-ROM (double layer): 8X CAV max.
    CD-ROM: 40X CAV max.

  4. Don't take this seriously, but *^%#@#^*^%&^$$, (dammit) I hoped that it would lake at least a few more days. I just felt real proud getting each of my video editing machines a DVD writer. (All three of them)

O well, any word on Blue-Ray?

  6. I bet its a LiteOn or gigabyte.

Look at what happened to Sony 8x, it came out in around march at $200, yet today you can get it for $87 at buy.com after 10% coupon & Sony $30 rebate.

I'm pretty sure he's asking about writing to DVD-R DL and not DVD+R DL.

Anyway, Pioneer demonstrated burning to DVD-R DL a while ago, but I don't when the drives will be commercially available.
