I just ordered one of these boards and was wondering if anybody else had it and how the performance is.

MMMMMMMMMM.......
Dual AMD Sweetness.....
I haven't socked away enough dough for this baby yet, but let us know how it stacks up....
I have a dual CELERON BP6 (366x2) system.
When crunching away on an AVI in TMPGenc (12i-j) CPU1 is @ 60% and CPU2 is @ 80% and encodeing time is about 25% faster than on a single CPU......
I think a mannly CPU (Athalon) will give better SMP preformance than a castrated celeron.
ALL ATHALON CPUs WORK IN SMP MODE!!!!!
Don't spent the premium on the "MP" chips go with the "XP" flavor. -
I have a Tyan Thunder K7 with 1.2 ghz MPs, and I absolutely love it. I can encode a VCD using TMPGEnc at high quality settings in slightly faster than realtime. For example, I can do a 90 minute widescreen movie in 70-80 minutes.
I've seen benchmarks that show the Tiger outperforming the Thunder at some tasks, so you should be very happy w/ your Tiger. I went with the Thunder because I actually use all the onboard goodies - I use the onboard SCSI controller for a Seagate Cheetah, I use the onboard video to run a second monitor, and I use both of the onboard LAN ports for a home network.
By the way, what the previous poster said is true, XPs do work in SMP configuration. However, AMD has hinted that they will disable SMP capability in future batches of XP processors, so buy at your own risk. And don't even think about using two Thunderbirds. They'll work, but they actually perform worse than a single processor configuration.

Yea i was tempted to get the xp chips, but decided to play it safe.Got the board and one 1800 mp at price watch for490$
Can't wait to put it together. -
I have on of these Tigers with 2/ 1.2MP's and 1 GB of registered PC2100 Ram. I love this thing fast, stable, reliable... I wanted to go with the XP's but Tyan told me that this board does not support them. I spent 1 hr. on the phone with AMD they told they do but only the ones that have a part #AHX so I decided to go with what I knew worked I paided 180.00 a pc. the 1.4 MP's were 300.00 each I couldn't justify it. Also only Windows 2000 Pro or XP Pro will support dual processors. I 'm running XP Pro. good luck you're gonna love it!!!!
