I have a problem that has me stumped. I have an Audigy 2 ZS soundcard on an ASUS A7N8X-E mobo set-up for 5.1 sound. Whenever I am playing DVD-Audio, I get very severe distortion (sounds like pure static as if a radio was not tuned to a station). However, here is this strange part. The distortion only occurs when the hard drive is being read from. Inbetween the hard drive being read, the sound is crisp and clear. Also, this only affects DVD-audio. If I am playing any other type of sound (wavs, games, etc..) this does not happen.
You can actually watch the hard drive LED and it will perfectly correspond to the static.
I have already tried the newest drivers and the onboard sound is disabled. Any other ideas?

There may be a software patch that fixes this. Others have complained
about static and EAX/driver updates have been posted on the web.
