  1. I have a progressive Divx avi file with a frame rate of 23.976. I want
to convert it to NTSC DVD. I've seen lots of discussion of how to
convert it properly with Tmpeg but I want to use Mainconcept
encoder to encode the avi since it's so much faster.

I'm not sure of the frame rate in 2 screens and whether I'm setting
it properly. In the details screen, do I set the frame rate to 29.97
since this is I want to encode the mpeg file's frame rate to?

Also, in the advanced MPEG setting screen under the Video Settings tab,
do I set the frame rate here to 23.97 so that the pulldown is set
    to 3:2?

in the first one set it to progressive and 23.976

in the second one -- set it to 23.976 also and if you had selected dvd in "MPEG TYPE" , pulldown will automatically be selected ..

if you go back and change the mpeg type after - you will have to go back and reset all your settings
