software not finding new dvdr (need help!)

my friend just got a new sony vaio. it came with a pioneer dvd-rw (dvr-106d). we wanted to burn a dvd we downloaded so i installed nero5 5.5.9.14. when we opened nero it gave me the select writer box becuase it did not find the burner.

i then looked at a gguide on here and tryed burning with imgtool burn. it also did not find the burner.

has anyone had this problem?
any possible solutions?

ok, i have tried uninstallign the sec. ide and the burner in device mag. and reinstalling them.

You might try using 5.5.10.54 version of Nero. I had to use it to get Nero to recognize my P106. It's at the Ahead Nero site.

all i found was a 5.5.10.56 update. i will try this.
