Hope this is in the correct forum.
My father has been trying to make a backup of an older (i think) western movie. It's on 2 dvd's. The first dvd copied fine using dvdshrink 3.17. Then he gets an error during the analysis stage on disc 2. I can't recall the exact error but it made mention of some kind of copy protection or encryption.
I took the dvd to my house and tried on my pc but I get this error.
I then tried with DVDXcopyxpress and left the pc for a while. Came back and the program had froze. No error.
Anyone know of a different program/method to backing up this dvd?
thanks[/img]

ty. I will try that soon. Is it normal for a 2-dvd set to have some kind of copy protection on one of the discs only?
Or is it something else? -
No, it's more likely a scratch or other problem with the disk.
If reading with Decrypter doesn't work you could also try cleaning the disk, and/or try reading with your DVD burner instead of DVD ROM. -
When I use decryptor I only have a folder VIDEO_TS. It has a bunch of files in it.
What do I use to burn to cd? Nero???? -
I assume that you're trying to burn to DVD (not CD).
If the files in the folder are small enough to fit on one DVD then you can burn that folder to DVD with Nero, Record Now or other burn programs.
If it's not small enough to fit on one DVD then you open that folder with DVD Shrink (if you're using an older version of shrink then you have to open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in the folder with Shrink. Then use Shrink just like you normally do. -
Thanks for all of your help Bob. Yes I am trying to burn to dvd. Total file size is under 3 GB so it will fit on one dvd. So I just use nero to burn the one folder onto the dvd? Becasue when I put the original dvd in the drive and open it up it have a video and audio folder with all the files in it.

A few older DVD players require the AUDIO_TS folder even though it's empty. So if you want to be really safe you can add an AUDIO_TS folder. All the files needed are in the VIDEO_TS folder and for most players that's all that's required.
(I always add an AUDIO_TS folder in since it only takes a couple seconds). -
Same problem, happened with a scratchy disc, That might be the problem, but if you have no budget, see my string.
