  1. Does anyone have any experience using the program Nuendo? I've been looking at it & I don't really know what to make of it. It kind of looks like Vegas Video & Sound Forge combined together & put on steroids. Is this a true video & sound editing program & is it worth purchasing?

it is a DAW , an audio workstation. You do realize that with the hardware required and added required plug-ins, that it costs $5550 without a computer and some other hardware which is a good idea? Though you can buy just the software ..

it IS a pretty good system - but I think Sonar3 is a better system for the price ..

you could also look at ProTools which is the defacto standard - though overpriced bloatware .... not cheap , but an industry standard .. though many studios use sonar also (and others) ..

what are you mixing anyway ? --

non of these are video editors by the way ...

if you are just multitracking and require loop (acid) support with some lay-in work plus the ability to run any DX audio plug PLUS the ability to lock and edit to video .. Vegas is a FAR better choice than any of the above --

I was looking for something that would mix Hollywood quality sound tracks/sound effects/dialog/music/etc into my movies. Kind of like Vegas, but the video editing part would be already done. From looking at Nuendo, it looked like they had a video section to do this.

I did'nt realize you needed all this hardware to go with it. I saw that you did, if you were going to hook instruments up to it, like a synthesizer. I was more interested in the part of adding quality sound to video, though.

Vegas would be better for what you want then ..

the YES (the band YES) dvd's are produced in vegas as well as several films now and music videos and other stuff ..

you need proper hardware no mater what if you want great quality sound -- i.e . good quality AD and DA I/O, mics and monitors.

Protools is also used a lot for this ... a lot ..
