  1. I have a new DVD I cannot back up because of an error in one of the VOB files. DVDDecrypter slows to a crawl and will not get past the error no matter where I set the ignore read error setting. Shrink also won't process. I don't want this part of the DVD as it is a director interview. I can see the error on the media and it is not cleanable. How can I get this ripped so I can burn a backup?

    TIA

there is a setting in dvddecrypter that says ignore mastering errors. Check that box.

in Decrypter just rip the main movie along with the associated files (IFO,etc). now you have two option.
    1. use DVD2One to backup this main movie. most time this app does not require the entire DVD to be ripped as Shrink does.

    2. In Shrink instead of analysing the VIDEO_TS.IFO file as usual select the VTS_xx.IFO of the main movie that was ripped by Decrypter. following the instructions on this post from here on.

  4. Thanks to both of you but checking the box to ignore errors does not stop it from attempting to read them and when I do check the box it slows down to a crawl. After an hour with reread after reread I gave up.

The other suggestion is only useful after I have a rip and, again, the problem is I cannot get a rip. I also have tried Smartripper which allows me to specify ahead of the rip that I don't want the part that is an error but it also tries to read and stops.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks
