Artifacts on SOME parts of DVD, not others?

Okay, my media issues have been solved, I'm using Sony and Ritek, and going good on both, EXCEPT two discs, both of which play perfectly on the Mac, but still have the color artifacts , but only on certain parts of the disc. One disc is TV eps, and it only appears on 3 of the 6, the other disc has two B&W movies, and it only appears on the first. This is very strange, because cheap media screws up the whole disc usually, right?

Not really. Here at work we've had discs that one video track would play fine, but track two would be a mess. On the discs we had we could typically see a difference in color in the dye on the under side of the disc.
