I've recently purchased the All In Wonder 128, but for some odd reason when i choose to capture in VirutalDub, it tells me that there is no capture device available. I just tried Winvcr and that didnt work. The only two programs so far that have worked are the MMC that came with the card, and Ulead Media Studio 6. I would really like to hear suggestions or pointers on how to fix this if there actually is a way, so please if you can help get in touch with me .... peace

Hi,
I had this same problem. You need to get and install the VFW (video for windows) compatiable drivers for your card. They are available from the ATI site as alternative unsupported drivers. They used to be the regular drivers, but in the latest updates ATI has decided to go with directshow only capture. This, in essence, disables any 3rd party capture software, unless you want to go VFW wrapper route, but I would suggest the older drivers. They are what I use and I have no problems with them. Unfortunately I can't remember the version number, but they are pretty easy to find on the site.
Hope this helps

Yeah actually i called ATI and he told me the same thing, but i downloaded the older drivers and it still doesn't work, damn i spent money on this card and it doesn't even work like i want it to ........

your problem is that you're using the newer WDM directshow drivers. the drivers you want in win9x/ME are 4.12.6292, and they're on ati's website under "older VFW support drivers". you need to install MMC 6.3 or Ulead 5.0 that came with the card to have the whole VFW driver package (one or two files is in the MMC 6.x or Ulead 5 install). or you can go the wrapper route, which is somewhat lower performance, but your only option win win2k.

See that's my problem here, this card is pretty new, so the software that came with it are the MMC which is 7.1 and Ulead 4, i called again and i was told that the reason it isn't working is because i have DirectX 8.0 installed when the drivers require 7 to work. So right now i am formatting, but if that doesn't work for me, i'm all out of ideas, i dont know how i can get a hold of older cd's seeing as asking ATI for them would be a little bait....

I have posted this in another topic in the past, but if you want to use your ATI card with Virtualdub and keep MMC 7.1, DX 8.0, etc..
Go to.
http://shopgeo.virtualave.net/wrapper.zip
And just extract the files in the zip and right click on the inf file and say install.
Works on Windows 9X and 2K.

whoever's telling you directx 8 is your problem is full of it. i have directx 8 and the 8dv-update and that's not the issue.
i think Ulead 4 is ok and should have a VFW capture driver. it may need to be registered with the windows registry though.
http://www.rage3d.com or http://www.rageunderground.com may still have MMC 6.3 available for download, as well as http://www.pcphotovideo.com -
Well believe it or not, the format went well, and now when i go to virtualdub it says
"Cannot find a driver to draw this non-RGB image format"
But i think i know why this is, i installed the drivers, the old one with the VFW capability and Directx 7. I have yet to install the MMC because i am unsure whether it will work with directx7 but i think once i install tv software that i will be able to do it. The only thing is i'm going to be now and i work in the morning so i will post how it goes when i try it when i get home tomorrow night
Thanks guys -

choose a different color format. not all codecs are designed to compress all formats. i think YUY2, UYVY, (etc, most any YUV format or MPEG Raw) is ok for picvideo. don't remember for divx. so change out of VCR1/VCR2 in the little dialog box that comes up. -
Yeah man, i forgot i posted this, cause after i fooled around a little in vdub i figured it out myself.......so thanks to all who made it work.....it's working !!
Peace and Thanx
