    I have an Apex-500A. I cannot play any type of CD-R media on it! I cannot play VCD or SVCD Even though it says that it can play these types of disks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Not all VCDs and SVCDs are made on CDRs. Many units will play VCDs that are factory pressed (like audio cds) but don't like CDRs.
    perhaps this is what's going on.

    Also some players will not play CDR but will play CD-RW. I burn vcds on CD-RW and they work in my DVD player. If I burn to CDR they will not work.
