  1. I want to author an out of spec DVD with a vob set larger than 4.3 GB and then DVD shrink it. What program can I use to author the vob set? Will Tmpgenc DVD Author do this?

    Thanks a bunch,
    Jason.

    Hi touchdownfsu,

Yes, I believe TDA will do it - but it'll chuck up a warning message first. Click OK / Yes to ignore it and you'll get your VOBs etc.

I'm curious though - To be authoring, I'd guess you've got MPEG2 file(s) (.mpg, .m2v). So, if you still have the source that you encoded to MPEG, you'd be better off adjusting your bitrate to get a file(s) that fit without using DVDShrink.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi touchdownfsu,

Did you encode a source file (say AVI of some description) to get the MPEG file? If so, use something like the DVDRHelp Bitrate Calculator to figure out your bitrate to get it on one disc, and redo the encoding.

If you've just got the MPEG file (say you've captured straight to MPEG) then, obviously, you can't re-encode. I'm not too familiar with this, so something like rejig or DVDShrink - both transcoders for recompressing MPEG to (smaller) MPEG - would do the job. Just a case of picking the best one... Can't comment on that, sorry!

    Hope that helps. Good luck...
