  1. Can anyone tell me if Adobe Premiere is worth the money? I would like to create slideshows. After creation I send the finished product to Sony “Click to DVD” to make DVDs for TV viewing. The material I’ll be using includes digital & analog video. Digital photos, scanned photos and slides. I would like to add music and other
effects including pan, zoom and transitions. The first time I made a slide show it was with Windows Movie Maker. I liked the ease and results but found the program limiting as far as special effects. I know I’d like to find a program that will have more options. I found mention about Adobe Premiere and some information that made it sound like a program that I’d like. My computer came preloaded with Adobe Premiere LE and I have tried to work with it and have found it very aggravating. Of course there’s no instructions for it and instructions Adobe has to offer pertains to Premiere 6 not LE. I haven’t even been able to figure out how to import still photos in to it. No matter what I do it says its an unsupported file format. Also if someone could answer my question about formats, I have saved photos as tif. For archiving purposes, do I need to use another file format when creating my slideshow

  2. I know you can import bitmaps and Photoshop files into Premiere Pro, that's all i've ever tried, I don't see any reason tiff files shouldn't work.

You might try downloading the trial version of Premiere from Adobe's website to see if it will do everything that you want. I believe the trial version is fully functional for 30-days. Then you can see if it's worth your $$.

  3. For what you would be using premier for, it wouln't be worth your money. You can get a program way cheaper that would do everything you want. Don't get me wrong, im an avid Premiere user, unless your going to do some advanced editing, its not worth it. Ulead Studios has some cheaper software and I beleive Panasonic has something that may be cheaper also. Premeire would definately solve your problem, but I think it might be overkill. If they sell some of their older versions 6, 6.5 for cheaper, mabye look into that

This couldn't be better advice. I'm a premier whore myself, but if all you're wanting is slideshows, then unfortunately, Premier Pro is a little too advanced. Sure, you can do slide shows, but is it really worth $600 (or whatever the going rate is nowadays)?

Stick to your guns a bit more, and you're sure to find something for half the price, if not less.
