My system uses dual xeon 1Ghz processors (thru W2K). When I run dvdshrink's (v3.15 or 3.17) deep analysis mode on a video stream, it will only utilize 1 of the processors at 100% (as monitored by Task Manager). The other processor really doesn't seem to be involved in the analysis at all. However, when I have done deep analysis through dvdshrink v3.0 beta 5, it uses both proceesors equally at about 60-70%. Why this change between versions? It seems to me that I would like to allocate as much of my CPU's as possible to this process, to speed it up and increase quality. I prefer to use 3.15, for it's ease and features.
Any ideas out there on how to get the second processor involved more in the analysis using 3.15? Has anyone who also has dual processors noticed this in their work?

    thanks

Have you tried setting DVDShrink to a higher priority in Task Manager?
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

No, I haven't. It's at 'normal' priority now, so that is something I could change (to high), and see how it runs. I just found it interesting that in v3beta5 it was using both processors equally, rather than one at 100%. It seems like something in the shrink code may have changed between versions....

I have a dual 800 Xeon and the results that I get are 50% CPU usage. I don't think upping the priority will help me especially if there is nothing else running. If I run TWO DVDShrinks at the same time, my results are.... well, the same - 50% for both. I think they end up using the same processor as well.

    Seven

Edit: I use DVD Shrink 3.1.4

This is for encoding and not for analysis but I think I would get similar results.
