  1. Hi all,

I could really do with your help as I'm going out of my mind !!!

I have a Daytek DVR-P30 DVD Recorder and have copied some old VHS tapes onto the DVD+RWs.

Now I would like to copy those discs onto some DVD-R discs I have (I have read that + to - is not a problem : I have a dual format NEC1300A burner in the PC).

I copied the disc in Nero 6, but the write got right to the end and then it gave me an illegal disc message and told me could not finalise disc (Disc at once).

I tried using Pinnacle Instant copy, but all of a sudden that gives me a multicopy.exe error and will not work

I even tried DVD X Copy Xpress, that got all the way to 99% reading the disc then it crashed and closed down.

Without sounding stupid the Daytek manual says you need to finalise a write once disc for use in a PC (fair enough) but you can't finalise an RW disc, could this be a problem? At the moment I'm stumped, I've tried everything I can think of, now I need help !!!

Any ideas or suggestions gratefully recieved

    Thanks

    Garry

  3. Yes I can.

Nero reads it fine (So does DVD Decrypter), but the write is giving me grief.

(DVD X Copy Xpress crashes when reading the original).

  4. Copying from original to blank "on the fly" is prone to errors, I would advise one of the below: -

    1. Copy to hard drive and then burn using nero selecting the files this way.

    2. Use dvd decrypter - rip in iso mode and then write in iso mode.

I will be very suprised if either of the above do not work.

  5. Thanks for the reply.

I don't usually use Nero, could you guide me through transferring the files from the HD and burning in Nero please?

    Cheers

I use TMPGenc DVD Author to transfer my +RWs from my Philips Recorder to DVD-R.
I like to have a basic menu and chapters and find it the easiest to use.

  7. Andy,

Thanks for the tip on TMPGEnc, I use it too now, it is absolutely brilliant !

Would never have found it if you hadn't posted here, so thank you very much.
