  1. Currently i have 2 DVD players one is a Samsung HT-DB600 which plays SVCD/DVD's just fine , the other is Daewoo5900 which works well but when playing VCD's or SVCD's or SVCD/DVD's i have Audio sync problems and well after doing much reading the problem is with the player not the VCD/DVD , i can take the same CDor DVD to my samsung or portable Mintek with no audio sync problems .

so now i wanna replace my daewoo with a decent player that will Play PAL/NTSC and and play SVCD/DVD well as for a decnet price less than 90.00

i went out and got the cheapest a cyberhome 300 but it pixelated to much my guess would be because of the pal/ntsc conversion so i took it back .

ive been doing alot reading but i just cant pin down what works best with this program i love so much (SVCD2DVD) so any suggestion as to what you have in your home theatre system would be very helpful in narrowing down my options .

some brands i'am looking at are Jvc , Phillips , Samsung ?

  2. Just a update !

I bought a cyberhome 300Zs , i brought home and tested a SVCD/DVD and it had alot pixelation when playing a pal film .

so i took it back and got a toshiba 3900 which was nice but only played NTSC so it went back also , so after doing alot more research i decided on phillips DVD player and i actually got model 726 its being shipped this wekk so when i get it i will report its performance so that it may help another person in the future .

  3. Check this site under DVD players for the pioneer DV 270. I just bought this player and it is sweet. This player is getting better ratings then the famous Pioneer 333. It will play DVD+/-R and RW+- cdr and RW vcd xvcd svcd as well as PAL with both svcd and dvdr's and works fine with svcd2dvd. It also will read cdr/ dvdr data discs and plays wma/mp3 files with long filename support. Thats right, you can play a dvdr full of mp3's for days!! It also has a photo viewer that plays jpegs and kodak picture CD's and you can view photos while playing mp3 music. Pioneer's have always supported more formats then most of the other major brands. Some of their models have had some weaknesses. But if you check the user reviews on the DVDplayer section on vcdhelp site you will see that Pioneer seems to have created the perfect stand alone player. Oh and I forgot to mention that this player also will do progressive scan. All for 70 bucks at walmart or you can buy it online at walmart.com. This is no doubt the best pioneer yet.

The only thing that you have to do with this player is manually set the player in the intitial settings to 16:9 when playing svcd's and use the pan and scan setting when viewing regular dvd's. I am using the 16:9 settings with the stuff I make with svcd2dvd and it looks good. But I have not tried the Pan and scan yet with the svcd2dvd. Usually you can tell which one right away that gives you the correct aspect ratio. I have not needed to use the pan and scan feature with svcd2dvd so this deck does not need that fix. My apex 1100w (no -longer made) will also play the pals but the pioneer will sometimes have a better aspect ratio on the pal/ntsc conversion. I have yet to really find anything this deck won't play. So far it plays everthing I throw at it.
