  1. Hey there, I'm having a bit of a problem locating a VFW-WDM wrapper which I need to solve a problem I'm having in VirtualDub. According to postings on this site and a few others, this wrapper was originally located at the following website:

    http://shopgeo.virtualave.net/wrapper.zip

    However, when you try to click on it, you get an error page saying that the site is no longer active. Is there anyone out there who knows of another site that has this wrapper available for download, because I really need to use it in order to capture video properly.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eldric

    Try this:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\MediaResources\msvideo]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\MediaResources\msvideo\MSVideo.VFWWDM]
    "Description"="Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32)"
    "FriendlyName"="Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32)"
    "Driver"="vfwwdm32.dll"

    Copy the text to notepad and save as file.reg and open and enter the info to registry.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  5. Thanks for the help guys, I was able to get the file with no problem. Unfortunately, it didn't fix my problem. In the end I had to switch from Virtualdub to VirtualVCR for capturing. Thankfully, I can still use Virtualdub to convert the video from the RAW file to the file type and file size that I need.

    Now, if I can only work out a way to convert a video captured from an analog source, to either an AVI or OGM file with Xvid as a video codec and Vorbis as an audio codec. Oh well, best get back to work

    Thanks again,
    Eldric

    Eldric - What was the problem you were having in Vdub ?

    I also had to switch to Vvcr, but only for tuner captures.

  7. Same problem - I was attempting to capture directly to VirtualDub, and unfortunately there's some sort of internal software conflict - one that's been addressed repeatedly and "should" have been fixed with the wrapper. Unfortunately, it wasn't. XP is being a bit of a hassle when it comes to doing such captures in VirtualDub. In the end I was able to accomplish the same sort of thing using VirtualVCR, and just edit the raw video file in VirtualDub. Just so that you, or anyone else is having this sort of problem - it occurs when you try to capture any "large" resolution file in VirtualDub. In this instance I was attempting to capture a file with the resolution 640x480 in YUY2, using HuffyUV as the codec, and kept receiving this error popping up in Virtualdub. As I stated, in the end, VirtualVCR was able to do the same job in capturing the raw video feed and I was later able to go through VirtualDub to edit the video and resize it to the final resolution I needed.
    Thanks anyway,
    Eldric
