  1. alright i just got done with smartripper and dvd2avi. I open up tmpge and load the 2 files. i then go into source range and only want to cut certain parts of the movie out. I see where i can start frame and end frame, but how do I actually get the software to create this part.

I'm some what lost, but think I'm close. I basically want to cut like 3-4 parts out of this dvd. tmpge will work, right?

    thanks in advance

  2. I guess I'm wondering if I have to do the entire movie first. then get a tmpge file and then go back and cut out what I want. I would rather not do that, because it will take forever to do an entire movie when I really only want a few parts.

    thanks again

You're on the right track. Use source range, select start and end, encode. Repeat until you got all your clips.
Depending on what your goal is, you might have to join all encoded clips with TMPGEnc (MPEG Tools). Be aware that joining mpegs is not that easy - more often than not you end up with sync probs and stuff - If you can do without joining the clips, I'd strongly recommend not to.

  4. I was just going to drop them all in a program like sonic my dvd or something and burn them. Will that work?

  5. I tried doing this with CCE, worked great with output to 1 file. After you added an AVISynth file pointing to the d2v file, doubleclick the avs file in CCEs encoder list, then in the "input files" frame, click the "Setting..." button, then add the same file as many times as required (the number of clips to include) and then you doubleclick each list item to set a source range. Its a terrible tool for setting source range there, depending on file type and CCE version, but it works. Will save you a lot of time as you need to set it up just once. I never got so far as to include sound in my test, but there is an option there for setting sound file to input from. I think you can not use the extracted AC3 file, it gotta be wav. Maybe its faster to use tmpgenc after all
