This has been bothering me for some time now. Ever since I started burning discs, I would find that on nine out of ten of the discs I have burned, the video would occasionally pause for several seconds at random points. The fault is totally random, and cannot be replicated by rewinding and replaying the same part of the disc, so it doesn't appear to be a media problem.

That only leaves two possibilities that I can think of. One is that I am somehow burning the disc wrong (I create the ISO image files in DVDShrink then burn them using DVDDecrypter). The other is that the two players I am suing (Toshiba SD-1250 and SD-1300) aren't as compatible with DVD-R as they should be. Any suggestions?

Are you using paper stick-on labels?

I recall reading in the forums here that people have attributed this problem to those types of labels - Anyone else confirm this???

I used to try putting on labels made with glossy paper (the Neato labels, in fact). But I found them difficult at best to get on the way I wanted them, and making them was a royal pain in the proverbial. So I stopped and just went with text with a permanent marker on the disc surface.

I stopped using the labels after I found that discs would play with macro-blocks that weren't there before I added the label. Given how much the discs cost, it wasn't worth making the disc look all nice and slick.
