HAHA. Bad scratches don't scare me! Only took 5 hours to go over and rip the scratch with decrypter! Would brasso work to resolve any further issues regarding scratches? Tried lens cleaner, but no help. What is an alternative to brasso? thanks.
Only about 10000 retries! could that be a record?!![]()

Brasso works quite well - it's worked in about 3 instances where nothing else would. I don't own one of those cd repair doctors.

No, I've had more. Be sure to do that one a drive you don't care about. It could kill the laser.

Agreed - toothpaste, a little water and a soft cloth. Brought a couple of mine back from the dead.

Just copied a disk for a friend who wanted a backup as the disk is covered in marks and scratches..
Why dont htey ask before they wreck em...
As its not mine i didnt want to risk damaging further so just gave it a good polish with Mr Sheen ( UK Spray can polish) and its done the trick removed most of the marks just a few radial scratches but dycripter got passed them OK...
Must be my lucky day.Not bothered by small problems...

Try soaking it in karosine or gasoline it will take the outer coating and let you make a copy of it. only try this on an original disc and original will be very fragile afterwards

Try taking better care of your disc!

first time ever had a disc this badly scratched. Think ill go with the brasso and armorall path rather than the gas method. gas ain't cheap no more, need it for the car. I use a dvd-rom for all ripping purposes so as to save the burner. Thanks everyone.
