    hey
    i've got some decently long movies i wanna rip but i wanna split them into halves so i can get better quality overall for the rip.

    does anyone know how to do this?

    Try Auto GK. I've never used it(habit of doing things the hard way) but I believe it can do what you want relatively easy.
