Hey Everbody, Can someone settle a debate between me and my friend. I have a bet! He says that Laser Disc is the best that analog can do, I disagree maybe Laser Disc have more resolution but I've seen SVHS that was darn near close to DV & the clarity is in SVHS favor. Any Comments?

Laserdisc has twice the vertical resolution of VHS.

It's still pretty soft, and composite, but its scary to think that even in the 1970s, there were better alternatives to Very Hazy System.

The best analog would be among these formats:

One inch type C (Sony BVH-3100)
BetaSP (as in betacam Sony BVW-75)

So really you are both wrong.

The best consumer analog would be among:
    LaserDisc CAV format
    S-VHS
    Hi-8

Don't believe me? Then use google to find your answers.

Laserdisc has a somewhat higher resolution, but it has its own set of drawbacks that make S-VHS more desirable.
