I've seen a few topics advocating the use of a decent PSU, so I need some advice. I added a 3rd HDD, and the PC wouldn't boot (hd's made strange noise ) so I removed it again and all went fine. So I guess that points to an incapable PSU? It's a 400W cheapo brand unit, so I guess I'm not surprised.
So, If I run 3 HDD's, 3 CD-ROM's, cathode lights, LED fans and lots of other crap, what sort of PSU should I go for?

I've been looking at an Aerocool 550W (looks good, and it's on sale at www.overclock.co.uk )
    What do you think?

This is the one I'm using just now. I couldn't believe what I got for the price - it's a good, heavy PSU and it delivers solid performance. I am running a lot on my machine too, take a look at the details on my profile for more info.

Just beware, you'll be needing this too:

You won't get far without that!

    Hope this helps!

  3. If you have a 400watter then it should run that just fine.

    Two things:

    1. Your new HD is junk, send it back for replacement.

    2. You have the jumpers set up wrong and need to set them correctly.

Just to make sure unplug all the "Other Junk" you have. Connect the "New" one and boot up. Does it work? If it does then yes you need a bigger PS. You can get a 550watt for around $20-30US.

    *EDIT*

Why do you need 3 CD-ROM's?
