--This is for people to put their movie list just for the fun of it. This topic has an 87% chance of going off to something else. Out of that, it has a 98% chance of being routed to a topic of sexual content or potty humor. Has that really stopped anybody from reading the posts?
    ------------
As of 5/21/04 at 3:25PM PST this is my list of DVDs I own(minus about 20 porns and 40 others which I can't legally say I own, either on DVD or at all). My collection expands about 1 DVD every week. I'm a bit slow going now, but I'm married. Most money goes towards her or my computer. Gotta have priorities and it goes my kid, computer, and then my wife. After that, there's not much money left.
    ------
Anyway, this is just for bragging rights. Just list all your movies. While Rolie Polie Olie is for my son, Thomas the tank Engine are really mine. Big rail-fan here. The rest you can probably guess with good confidence which ones my wife purchased and which ones I purchased. We're usually not together when purchasing DVDs, so that's why such a huge contrast.

I'll leave that for Capmaster. He's probably got most of the same ones I have, plus more and better. I only worry what the ones he has that I don't have are. I probably do have 2 he doesn't have, though. 'Labor of Love 4' and 'Expecting Sex: Asians 3'. Wife's idea when she was pregnant. I didn't complain one bit.

    no way! that's outrageous!

You know you have too many dvd-rs when you go to buy a new player (breaking up with girlfriend means giving her hers back and buying my own) and the first thing you look at is dvd-r compatibility!

I really don't copy rentals. I don't like to use DVD shrink because it may lose quality. I might use it to get rid of disclaimers and previews. The ones that I copied from a Rental store are the ones that I did not list. These aer the only other ones that are burned, but off of Laser Disc or TV. I do have back-ups of everything though.

You don't have to compress - DVD shrink allows you to split the movie if it's too big...or cut extras.

There are many that don't even need compressed...usually it's the bigger budget movies that are dual layered or anything with lots of extras.

FWIW, I happen to buy my DVDs...I use auction sites, half.com and fish around for bargains.
Often I get the legit DVDs for less than what it would cost to make a copy of a rental

No one is getting a free ride by making copies - DVDRs aren't free and aren't really that cheap either....and even if you're backing up your own stuff, whether converting from VHS, TV or DVDs, you're still paying for that backup...and it can add up very fast unless you only have a handful of stuff to backup.

Anyway, here's my legit DVD list (not counting anything I own on VHS or converted) -

You don't have to compress - DVD shrink allows you to split the movie if it's too big...or cut extras.

There are many that don't even need compressed...usually it's the bigger budget movies that are dual layered or anything with lots of extras.
Usually I want a FULL Back-Up. I'm not looking to compress. Sometimes I use DVD Shrink to remove annoying previews, like on Disney DVDs especially. But then I reauthor the whole thing through another program. My DVD Shrink causes the menus and choices to frame through as if they were part of the movie. I want them to work like normal menus interactively, so I reauthor the whole thing with just the parts I want. Sort of the long way around and a lot of time and work, but it's how I want it. If I don't have to compress the actual movie, then I have no problem using DVD Shrink. If I have to do compression, I just buy a new movie. Not willing to sacrifice quality. Also if the DVD is a good one and for less than 5 bucks at Wal-Mart or online, I'll probably get it retail new. Because of the hassle I go through using DVD Shrink to get things the way I like, I don't use it very often. If I can make a full back-up of a movie without compressing or deleting anything, I only need my primary program anyway. So DVD Shrink is not used very often.

    Here's my collection.

    Here's my porn:

I'll give everyone a break and not list all the titles. BTW, the originals take up almost all of a decent-sized upstairs closet

CAPMASTER: Your collection is like a porn haven. You should have Back up drives instead of discs. Would probably be cheaper. Of course if you count in the BULK discout of discs and the repeat/VIP customer discount added to the Free shipping for purchasing over $3000 worth of media and cases, it probably comes down to a grand total of $.22 per disc and case together. Now if you add in the frequent Porn Rental to make the back up...... Heck you probably own an Adult Video Store.

I've spent around 3-5 years putting all the movies I've seen on an account on www.IMDB.com and have a section labeled just DVD's owned. I just copied and pasted my list. Think I have time to relist them all again? I got better things to do, like watching the news for sightings of Capmaster at motels and watching movies. The sad thing is I have listed over 4900 titles, that I have actually seen. If I were to estimate 2 hours per movie (not considering watching one more than once), I would have to sit watching movies 24/7 for over 400 days to watch them ALL a second time. I'm impressed that I still have time to work on my computer, have time with my son, and enjoy quality time with the wife. Of course quality time with the wife may include a movie, so that's like a 2 for 1 deal. If my wife likes the movie, it ends up a GOOOOD NIGHT!
