    HI
i am wanting to rip just the movie part of a film
i opened dvd decrypter and selected main movie files
and it selected the vob files and one ifo (VTS_03_0.IFO)
and there the ones that it copied over, and i then tried to burn it with copy to dvd but that was looking for video_vts file which i had not got.

So what i want to know is what are the basic files that i need to copy over am i right in thinking that they are the same no matter what film you have
i always thought you needed some .bup files aswell not sure though
    please help
P.s i have tried dvd shrink aswell but that gives me a error message every time

what i usually do is rip all the files in dvddecryptor and then use dvd shrink to select the main movie only from the ripped files on the hard drive and burn the main movie with shrink. works for me everytime.

  3. go to mode - settings. Click on file mode and there will be a option that saids select files, make sure 'main movie' is selected. Now press ok.
Now everytime u start the program, and decrypt, it will copy just the main movie.

    Hi vdk_au
Thats what i did but it didn't copy all the neccesary files that i needed only the vob's and 1 ifo ,so when i tried to burn it with copytodvd it would not do it cause i did'nt have a video_vts file but on the dvd there are a couple of video_vts files so i dont know what files i need ,i thought dvd decrypter would select all thhe files i needed so i could just burn straight away

It's more complicated than that. Depending on how the DVD was authored you may be lucky, only rip the VIDEO_TS.* files plus the VTS with the movie and it may work but it's unlikely. Most commercial DVDs jump to other VTSs to play some trailers, intros or logos before playing the main movie. So if you don't rip the whole disc it won't work.
Use a transcoding or stripping utility for what you want to do (DVD Shrink, for example, as luvvbuzz suggested).
The option of selecting just the main movie in DVD Decrypter is there if you want to process these files further, not to rip them and burn directly).
