I thought you guys might find this article informative. It is the most in depth review you are going to find on Studio 9. For an inexpensive product, it's pretty amazing what Studio 9 can do.
I realize that the previous ver (Studio8) had some very real stability issues. Initially Studio9 had a big bug in it as well. Pinnacle jumped right on it and they fixed it with a dot release. So far we are getting excellent reports from users running the latest updates.
This article was written by Mike Shaw. Mike is a long time Pinnacle Studio user, going all the way back to the Studio 400. He's an old friend of the Videoguys and can be found participating in many on line forums.
Mike runs a really cool UK based website for Pinnacle users. http://www.mikeshaw.co.uk It began as a Studio users site, but he has recently added several excellent articles on Pinnacle's new Liquid Edition software. His Edition for Studio users article is a MUST read for anyone migrating up from Studio.
We are very fortunate to have Mike as the author for our first Videoguys' Insider Power User Story. I think old, new and future Studio users will find this article very informative.

I agree Studio 9 is a great product, in concept. However...it is so unreliable it should never have been brought to market. i've done all the patches, tried everythign Tech support has recommended, and spent hours and hours (at my expense) on the phone with them ( mostly on hold, naturally). Nohting works. My biggest problem is the "failed to ciompile" disk error that is quite common, just check out their Tech support forums. It's a programming error that many many people get when using the Pinnacle transitions/menu's. Take them out and it works fine. But if I take them out, I really have very little use for the product!! The program randomly shuts itself down without warning, I get plenty of errors too. the sad part is, all I use it for is basic editing....I've never tried to use the Mpg2 converter, since I've read it is quite poor, and takes forever. I've been happy using TMPGenc as my encoder of choice. Since i'm unable to build a DVD with the program, I'm forced to use Nero for this task. If you add in all the extra costs for Nero, Tmpgenc etc...it's no longer an inexpensive product, now is it!!??
