What were the precise video/audio properties of your source clips?
When I work with SVCD files, I observe the following video/audio properties:
MPEG files
24 Bits, 480 x 480, 29.97 fps
(SVCD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: 2375 kbps
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 44.1 KHz, Stereo
If the audio is to be used in a DVD project, it should be re-sampled to be compliant with the 48khz requirement of DVD.
