    Hello folks,

    How are you all?

Sorry for the ultranoob question, but how can I determine the correct field order for an interlaced video file?
And I would like to know what is the best tmpeg´s method for deinterlacing.

    Thank you very much!

I use Avisynth to separate the fields and then step through them
with Vdub. Beats any automatic method

Why deinterlace? Don't do it if you plan to watch on tv.

Use a filter in TMPGENC. Read a guide, try some at my site, it covers this.

Sometimes you have a field based AVI and you don't know the order.
The MPEG2 encoder needs to know

  8. Soulman,

First, you DON'T want to deinterlace the video if you are not going to watch it on your computer.

Second, use TMPGEnc's "wizard" feature and it will figure out the correct field order for you.
