I got an e-mail today from
sales@livewarehouse.com
I was surprised to see the new 8.5 dual layer drives selling so cheaply:
NEC ND-2510A DVD±RW Double Layer for $97.
They also have the Pioneer duals for $136.
The internal Pioneer 107 has dropped to $88.
While I'm not thinking of upgrading my 106, I wonder how compatable the new dual disk format might be with stand alone players. I knw the media will be costly, but will tv players see the disks as a recognizable format?

I posted in the Mac forum because that's what i normally monitor. But I guess the question on compatability would apply to the PC world as well.
The Pioneer model is:
8X DVD±RW Dual Drive (DVD-A07XL)*
I don't know the specs on any of these items, such as CD burning speed. But there are probably links on the site. -
Whoops. I misread the infor. The Pioneer is a dual drive, not a dual layer drive. So only the NEC drives are dual layer. Sorry. But the Pioneer 107 price is still noteworthy, but may not last: it's a Memorial Day special.
