what is the best 3rd party defrag for windows xp and etc????? i tried disk keeper but for some reason it works for a while then everything goes back defrag again real quickly

I usually use the windows utility. I gave up installing Norton's about a year and a half ago. It was more trouble than it was worth. The disk defragmenter that comes with windows 2000 is pretty fast. XP's defragmenter should be similar.

I like O&O Defrag. Fast, intuitive, and non-obtrusive. Keeps my system defraged in the auto mode. Many other options based on various schemes...

I've used Disk Keeper and Vopt, but decided I'd give O&O a try based on the above recomendation. I am VERY impressed !!!

can also recommend O&O Defrag - shame they don't still do the freeware version.
