DVD standard is MPEG-1 or MPEG-2. No getting around it unless your player plays raw AVI.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Ummm you don't "unzip" it you CONVERT it.

Most people here use TMPGEnc or CINEMA CRAFT ENCODER (aka CCE BASIC).

There are a couple of options:

    1. Go to the DVD Players section to the left. Tick the boxes of the things you wish to be able to play and hit the search button. This will show you a list of DVD Players that will do what you want it to do.

    2. Have a look at the guide here.

It is aimed at fitting any AVI or MPEG on 1 CD but all you would need to do is load a DVD template and modify the bitrates to suit fitting the movie on 1 DVD.

I prefer to convert to MPEG because I think there are more options.
    If in doubt, Google it.

CCE BASIC is quicker but don't even attempt to try it unless you know or are willing to learn AviSynth scripting.
