The solution to playback issues is almost always "install this or that, reinstall this or that". I just had trouble playing an XviD Family Guy episode (some sort of green screen, though audio is fine), so I decided to completely remove all codecs from my computer. I uninstalled XviD, as well as fddshow, and K-Lite Codec Pack from Control Panel.
However, when I ran Gspot, it said I still have 2 codecs installed: XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder, and 3ivx D4 Video Decoder. I have no idea how I would go about uninstalling those codecs. Is it as simple as deleting the files, or would that mess up the registry and/or the players?
I was wondering if there was some tool that allowed me to decide, in cases where I have multiple codecs all capable of decoding a file, which one Media Player Classic would use. For example, switching from XviD codec to fddshow to some hacked codec or whatever, without the hassle of installing/reinstalling to give a certain codec "priority" over the others.
Any tips?
