I've got a spindle of TDK 2x, but they will only burn at 1x. I am using DVDdycryptor and a Lite-ON 411 drive. I've used other disk that will burn at 2x and 4x, but these won't.

Here is the info on a disc from DVDinfopro:

    Media Information
    Region information N/A not a DVD-VIDEO
    Media code/Manufacturer ID TDKG02000000
    Format Capacity Not Formatted
    Free Blocks 412352512
    Free Capacity 4.38GB(4.71GB)
    Book Type DVD-R
    Media Type DVD-R
Media Id Code Speed 2.0x 2770KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 1.0x 1385KBps
    Write Strategy Speed 1.0x 1385KBps
    Data area starting sector 30000h
    Linear Density 0.267um/bit
    Track Density 0.74um/track
    Number of Layers 1

    Thanks

One word... they are probably fakes.

Interesting. I got them at Best Buy when they had them on sale about a month ago. Wouldn't think they'd have fakes, but you never know. It does say on the label, "up to 2x compatable" so they might be older ones BB was getting rid of, hense the sale. Oh well, they'll work ok in my standalone recorder.

  5. those aren't fake. just that it won't work 2x with your lite-on for whatever reason (probably because it limits itself to the write strategy).

Update your firmware for the LITEON 411s. Check the LITEON Forum at cdfreaks.com.

You can get the necessary tools to download the latest firmware. Good luck.

  8. Or, you can update to my LDW-811S Speedhacked Firmware. But first, you must zebraMod your drive.

    Find my firmware here: http://members.fortunecity.com/terminalvelocd

    Find zebraMod here: http://www.speedlabs.org

  10. Also note that with LiteON's official firmware releases, you can only write to TDKG02 discs at 2x. With my speedhacked LDW-811S firmware, not only will you be able to write TDKG02 discs at 2x, but you'll be able to choose to burn at 1x if you want to. This also applies to other 1x-only and 2x-only media. You get to choose from 1x or 2x.

Of course, the main advantage of using an LDW-811S firmware with a zebraModed LDW-411S is the ability to burn DVD+R at 6x and 8x, and with my speedhacked LDW-811S firmware, *ALL* 4x DVD+R media will write at 8x!!!

Too bad you don't have the fakes. The fake TDKs burned fine for me at 2x, but the real ones always had errors at 2x so I burned them at 1x.

  12. G'day all,

This message is to tell everyone that I have just updated my LiteON speedhacked firmware releases. RICOHJPNR00 and MCC001 media (2.4x DVD+R) can now be written at 2.4x, 4x, 6x, and 8x.
