Can I hack either of these?

I want to be able to hack one or both of these DVD/VCR combo players from a R1 to an "all region" player.
The first is a Panasonic PV-D4735S, and it's not sounding like it can be hacked. ><;;
The second is a Go Video, the best I can tell for its model number is DVR4000.

Can any help?
If I can't hack these, is there a way of getting DVD R/RW players/burners used in computers or an XBOX to be all region?

However, I don't know enough about what these are (I don't even know what firmware is or if it's safe), or if I would need one or both. Can someone help me through this?
