Low volume in Openshiiva .8.8

I have made several .mp4 files from .VOBs using Openshiiva 0.8.8, and all of them seem to have very low audio levels. I accept the default 44.1khz sound and tried setting the options to best rather than better but it makes no difference. I seem to recall earlier version had a higher volume.

Is there any way of increasing the volume of the audio track? The original .VOBs are fine.

must be something with this app
i just did a 200 meg .vob
i cant hear any sound!
