WTF...someone help me, im stuck

ok, baldrick, fell free to move this, i dotn knwo where it goes

heres the deal....

many a times i have copied the video files off of my vcd into a directory on my hardrive, and was able to play it

now im doin it so i can send them to my brother.

i have a whole series of shows im tryin to do, each on their own disc

this whole series was a learning process, so i did several different things to them

along the way, i started makin entypoints and whatnot

as soon as i made entrypoints, i can no longer copy the files

i get "parameter is incorrect"

cant figure it out, its a damn file, why wont it copy

I have no frikkin idea what the prob is. Do you mean that you can't burn it, or that you can't copy it?

I'm guessing you've tried the usual stuff?

- Optimize your drive and copy it to a new location?
- Run ScanDisk?
- Reboot in safe mode and try to copy?
- Pray?

I take it you use VCDImager?

There is probably something wrong if your disc... e.g., there may be an unrecoverable sector somewhere. It's probably just coincidence that you happened to also create chapters here too.

In any case, just copying the video off a VCD (i.e., with cut and paste Windows commands) is not a good idea. I hope that you used VCDGear to fix them afterwards...

If you have trouble reading the file off the disc, you could always try to use CDRWin to extract the whole disc as a CUE/BIN image onto your HDD. Then, you can let VCDGear or VCDImager (VCDXRIP) work on the CUE/BIN image and extract the files.

If all else fails, BlindRead is probably a reasonable thing to try.

ok, well i had no idea that just pullin the file off of the disc is bad for the file on the disc

i couldnt imagin that that would be the case

other than that...i still dont know...ill just have them copy the disc..it seems to be too much of a hastle

The "DAT" file on the VCD is the original MPEG plus a few things.

You should use VCDGEAR to convert the DAT file back to MPEG. You can do this by setting the source file as the DAT on the VCD and then save it as MPEG on your HDD. It takes no longer than copying it.
