The scenario: capture full screen still images from a DirecTivo recording in the best quality possible.
The hardware contenders: Canopus ADVC-100, Pinnacle DC10+, Pinnacle PCTV Rave (BT878). All cards were connected to the DirecTivo via s-video.
The software contenders: Pinnacle Studio 8, Ulead Media Studio Pro 7, Dscaler
The best resulting image: Images captured using Dscaler with the BT878 Pinnacle Studio Rave at 720x480, default settings.
(DV captured 720x480 through MSP 7 or Studio 8 was second best, with the DC10+ lagging very slightly behind at it's max 640x480 with Studio 8.)
